Quick Tips About Work Life Balance

Has the American work ethic completely infiltrated our lives? We all know how harmful it is to our lives to have a “workaholic” attitude and in the same way to have a carefree attitude. So at what point do we know that the balance is lost?

  • Are you the first to arrive and the last to leave the office?
  • Do you think about work even after you have left the office?
  • Has your health suffered because you don’t have time to eat properly or sleep or exercise or cultivate any other self-care habits?
  • Do your friends or family complain about you never being around even for important events?
  • Do you believe that your work defines who you are?

If you answered yes to most of the above, you are a workaholic and need to gain some balance in your life. Some tips to achieve WLB are:

  • Try concentrating on excellence rather than perfection; on the process rather than the end-goal
  • At least for an hour every day, put your phone on airplane mode and unplug any other devices as well
  • Make some time for gentle exercise whatever that may be
  • Limit your interactions with people or situations that stress you out; learn to prioritize
  • Learn to delegate your responsibilities
